Caitlyn Scarlett is an emerging indie-pop artist based in the UK (Windsor & London).
Her new track “Happy When” is catchy yet minimal and one of our favourite pieces from her collection. Starting out with just a sub bass, vocals and percussion, Caitlyn’s wonderful voice is really on display. We love how minimal this song is, even in the chorus the instrumentation is very spacious and sparing.
Caitlyn describes the track: “Living in a world where pop culture, media and advertisers encourage us daily to feel insufficient and unattractive, combined with the multidimensional meat-market of the dating scene today, Happy When is the study and confession of a compulsion I think most can relate to. Finding romance, companionship and purpose in the arms of another is a goal most of us keep in our hearts, but a mentality I recently find myself questioning in my early twenties as I realise the importance of a good relationship with oneself first.”
