‘The Color Blue’ is the new single from McBride following the success of his album ‘Cold Water’ last year. Written in the wake of a friend’s relationship troubles Chase explains:
” (a) friend of mine who was struggling with a new relationship, continuously getting ahead of himself and projecting too far into the future. It was a reminder for me to enjoy the present moment, and resist attaching myself to my own expectations. The chorus lyrics reflect that sentiment, ‘I don’t want to move too slow, if this is touch and go, I want to feel it too’. It’s about truly living in a moment–taking life, relationships, or whatever else is happening one step at a time.” – Chase McBride
The need to remind ourselves to relish the moment totally resonates with the anxiety driven millennial. By comparison to his previous work, McBride’s sound has taken a more upbeat tone and certainly put a spring in our steps. We adore his breezy folk aesthetic and although the subject was blue, we could feel the warmth of the Californian sun warming us through his creation.
