MArtist: Hana Brooks
Song: Used To Be
Stands out: Fresh vocals, funky beat, catchy melodies.
If you like: The Knocks
Hana Brooks is a London based artist who was discovered by Radio 1’s Huw Stephens.
This track has a real 90’s Cali vibe to it that hooked us right away. If you like Halsey and The Knocks then you’ll like this. If you don’t like those artists, you might still love this – we just feel the instrumentation shares some similarities with those artists. It’s funky, airy and punchy with a hint of past times.
The track was mixed by Nick Bennett (London Grammar/Zak Abel) and sees a blend of urban beats & bass meet a Californian sound of synths, guitars and a heartfelt vocal. Partly recorded in LA whilst Brooks was visiting the states, the song was heavily inspired by her time there. Look out for the music video too.
